After four years of work a Martin, N.D., woman has published a novel in part taken from her life experiences as a foster parent. Next Saturday she will be in Jamestown to sign it.

In February, Tate Publishing released Judy Frueh’s novel “Laughing and Dancing Solo.”

“I’ve always liked writing so it took me three summers to write and I was inspired by the foster kids that have gone through our home,” she said.

Over the years Frueh and her husband, David, have foster parented eight children. She said more parents are always needed, and hopefully her novel will get that message out there.

“Part of it is to make them aware of all the neglected children in the world,” Frueh said of her novel. “Every child, if we give them some time and some love, at least we’re giving them a chance at the future. It may not ensure it, but we’re giving them a chance they don’t have now.”

“Laughing and Dancing Solo,” features two single foster parents who are polar opposites. The children intertwine because they are in the same class.

Judy teaches third grade in Harvey, N.D., and her husband farms.

Her book signing will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 14, in front of Kmart at the Buffalo City Mall.

The teacher said she would love to write another novel, but she has to prove herself with the success of “Laughing and Dancing Solo” first.
