I-94 construction starts Monday

Construction work will begin on Monday on Interstate 94 west of Jamestown, according to the North Dakota Department of Transportation. The work will be on westbound lanes from the Crystal Springs Interchange to the Dawson Interchange and also on the westbound and eastbound lanes at the Crystal Springs Rest Area. The project will consist of concrete pavement repair, surfacing and lighting work.

The work will be on westbound lanes from the Crystal Springs Interchange to the Dawson Interchange and also on the westbound and eastbound lanes at the Crystal Springs Rest Area. The project will consist of concrete pavement repair, surfacing and lighting work.

During construction:

* flaggers will be present to control traffic through the project.

* traffic will be reduced to one lane in the work zone.

* speeds will be reduced in the work zone to 65 mph through the lane closure and to 40 mph when workers are present.

* a width restriction of 14 feet will be in place.

* oil may be present on the roadway through the construction zone.

The project is expected to be complete by the end of June.

The traveling public should use caution when driving through the construction zone, the NDDOT said. Motorists should allow extra distance between their vehicles and the vehicles in front of them, use extra caution and obey flaggers and posted signs.
