Stolen car recovered in Jamestown

A Barnes County man had his car stolen and then chased a vehicle belonging to the suspects into Jamestown early Wednesday morning, according to the Stutsman County Sheriff’s Office.

A Barnes County man had his car stolen and then chased a vehicle belonging to the suspects into Jamestown early Wednesday morning, according to the Stutsman County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office said the victim called to report his vehicle had been stolen out of his yard at about 3:50 a.m. Wednesday. He called while in pursuit of a car that the suspected thieves had come to his house in. The chase was coming toward Jamestown and the Stutsman County Sheriff’s Office, Jamestown Police Department and North Dakota Highway Patrol responded.

The suspects got away from the victim. Their vehicle was eventually located, unoccupied, in Jamestown.

The stolen vehicle was found on Stutsman County Road 62 about five miles south of Interstate 94 and was returned to the victim.

The case remains under investigation by the Barnes County Sheriff’s Office.
