Immanuel’s Holy Week continues
Holy Week observances continue at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1403 Ninth Ave. SE. The “Vigil of Darkness” (Tenebrae) Good Friday service, led by assistant Wendell Kopperud, is at 6:45 p.m. today, featuring hymns and Scripture readings of Jesus’ final hours and the symbolism of his death.

The “Vigil of Darkness” (Tenebrae) Good Friday service, led by assistant Wendell Kopperud, is at 6:45 p.m. today, featuring hymns and Scripture readings of Jesus’ final hours and the symbolism of his death.
Easter Sunday observances will include an Easter breakfast beginning at 9:30 a.m., which is sponsored by the Immanuel Men in Mission. A menu of egg bake, muffins, sweet rolls, fresh fruit, coffee and juice will be served with a freewill offering being accepted.
An Easter Sunday festival of worship is at 10:30 a.m. with celebration of Holy Communion, the Easter Gospel, Easter hymns and choir anthem. This service will be led by the Rev. Nels Lillejord, pastor of the Immanuel congregation.
Members are encouraged to share their Easter lilies and plants and have them to the church by 9 a.m. Saturday to decorate the “old wooden cross.” These plants may be taken home after the Easter Sunday worship.
The congregation of Immanuel invites the community to worship with them.
Immanuel Lutheran Church is located next to Gardenette Housing in southeast Jamestown. The building is accessible with no steps for the physically challenged.
