Jamestown to host pharmacy event
The North Dakota Pharmacists Association’s 127th Annual Convention will be Friday through Sunday in Jamestown. The Dakota Pharmaceutical Association was organized Aug. 3, 1885, in Fargo by pharmacists concerned about the quality of pharmacy practice in the northern part of the Dakota Territory. There were no licensure requirements for pharmacists and pharmacies and the goal of the group was to organize to advance the profession by promoting standards for pharmacists to meet.

The Dakota Pharmaceutical Association was organized Aug. 3, 1885, in Fargo by pharmacists concerned about the quality of pharmacy practice in the northern part of the Dakota Territory. There were no licensure requirements for pharmacists and pharmacies and the goal of the group was to organize to advance the profession by promoting standards for pharmacists to meet.
Following statehood, the organization was recognized as the North Dakota Pharmaceutical Association. The articles of incorporation were renewed in 1935. The association’s mission is to represent pharmacists and technicians as health care providers promoting the safe, rational and cost-effective use of pharmaceuticals and medical devices through the provision of pharmaceutical care.
The convention is centered around providing continuing education for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians and recognizing those who have displayed outstanding performance in the profession.
