Carrington picks up two on the diamond
The Carrington Cardinals are off to a hot 3-0 start to the high school baseball season after winning a pair of contests against Finley-Sharon-Hope-Page and Kidder County/Napoleon/Wing on Monday in Carrington.
The Carrington Cardinals are off to a hot 3-0 start to the high school baseball season after winning a pair of contests against Finley-Sharon-Hope-Page and Kidder County/Napoleon/Wing on Monday in Carrington.
The Cards’ Scott Engelhorn picked up the victory and Peter Henson earned the save on the mound to help Carrington defeat the Spartans 7-3. Engelhorn walked four and struck out five, allowing three runs on two hits.
Taylor Skytland and Austin Hewitt each went 2-for-3 at the plate with a run scored and an RBI.
Hewitt pitched all five innings against the Pirates, as the Cards rolled 16-0 in their second game of the day. He struck out five, walked two and allowed just two hits.
Peter Henson, Engelhorn, Marcus Hewitt and Tysen Rosenau each had a multiple-hit game vs. the Pirates. Skytland and Henson each scored three runs, while Henson and Austin Hewitt each smacked a double.
Austin Hewitt, Engelhorn and Clay Heinley all had 2 RBIs for the Cards.
Carrington begins Region 3 play today when they’ll face Lakota/Adams-Edmore in Carrington starting at 4:30 p.m.
