The Jamestown City Council dealt with two issues during a special meeting Thursday.

The council approved a performance bond from Border State Paving for the street construction in several places in Jamestown this year. The $1.5 million bond is equal to the bid amount and guarantees the work will be completed, according to Jeff Fuchs, city administrator.

Border States had been awarded the contract for seal coat, patching and construction during the regular meeting. The bond needed to be approved before construction could begin.

The council also approved a plat of the Walicski’s First Extension. The plat extends the sizes of the lots so they are large enough to allow septic systems under state law.

Walicski’s First Extension is located along U.S. Highway 281 north of Jamestown on the west side of the road.

State law requires lots to be about one acre in size if homes on the lots are served by septic tank systems.

Both issues passed with a 4-0 vote with Councilman Ramone Gumke absent from the meeting.
