Midkota edges Black Sox
The Midkota Mustangs pushed six runs across the plate in the top of the first inning, as they rolled to an 8-5 Region 3 road victory over the Sheyenne-New Rockford Black Sox in New Rockford on Thursday.

Midkota was led at the plate by Kris Wathne (3-for-4, triple), Jamie Eggermont (2-for-4) and Brett Salveson (2-for-4). Zach Gilbertson notched the win on the hill after tossing all seven innings.
The Black Sox scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth to cut Midkota’s lead to 6-4, but a 2-run top of the seventh for the Mustangs sealed the victory.
Chance LaBrie went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles for the Black Sox. Cobey Allmaras shouldered the loss, after striking out eight through seven innings.
