Gophers baseball coach gets new deal
Minnesota baseball coach John Anderson has agreed to terms on a five-year contract extension through the 2016 season.
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Minnesota baseball coach John Anderson has agreed to terms on a five-year contract extension through the 2016 season.
Anderson, in his 31st year as head coach of the Gophers, is the Big Ten’s all-time leader in victories with 1,080. He has nine conference tournament titles and nine first-place regular-season finishes. He has been named Big.
Anderson’s teams have made 17 NCAA tournament appearances, though never to the College World Series. Athletics director Joel Maturi says “there is no one more deserving” of the contract than Anderson, who has been working hard in recent years to raise funds for a new on-campus stadium.
