DENVER (AP) — Olympic gold medalist Lindsey Vonn announced through her Facebook page that she has paid the more than $1.7 million she owed in back taxes.
According to public records obtained through the Elko County recorder’s office in Nevada, the IRS hit the reigning overall World Cup champion and her estranged husband with a tax lien this month.
Vonn, a Minnesota native, wrote on Facebook that she’s “disappointed with this situation” and has done “everything in my power to settle it.
“The money owed was for the 2010 tax year, which was filed on time, and it has been paid in full,” Vonn posted on her Facebook page. “This is an important lesson for me. Not being in control of my finances and relying on someone else who you believed had your best interest at heart was a mistake and one I will not make twice.”
