Sand reports donations, debt

Republican Senate challenger Duane Sand raised more than $250,000 in the first three months of 2012, but he also holds $200,000 in reported debt, according to his latest filing to the Federal Election Commission.

Sand will face Republican-endorsed candidate Rep. Rick Berg in the June 12th primary.

As of April 1, Sand reported having $81,200 in cash on hand and $205,800 worth of unpaid debts and obligations.

To date, Sand has reported raising $676,400 in net contributions, $430,200 – or 64 percent – of which have come from individual donations of $200 or less.

In comparison, Berg raised $943,100 in the first quarter of this year and had $1.6 million in cash on hand as of April 1.

Heitkamp collected $590,300 in the first three months of 2012 and also received $121,625 in transfers from authorized committees, which collected donations on her behalf.

She had almost $850,000 in cash on hand as of April 1.
