A benefit is planned Friday in Fargo for the great-granddaughter of a Jamestown resident.
Faith Schmidt, daughter of Rick and Sarah Schmidt of Kindred, N.D., and great-granddaughter of Mary Young, was born with bilateral club feet. Recently she was diagnosed with amyoplasia congentia, a rare disorder that affects the joints of her arms and legs. In her case, the right side of her body is affected. Faith is also missing part of her fifth chromosome.
The child has been referred to Mayo Clinic for treatment. She has been receiving weekly physical and occupational therapy as well. Due to her diagnosis and treatment, the family will be making many trips to Mayo Clinic and missing work as well.
A spaghetti supper and silent auction are at Hope Lutheran - South Campus, 3636 25th St So., Fargo, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. today. Donations may also be sent to the Faith Schmidt Benefit Account at any area Bremer Bank. The main Bremer Bank address is: 1444 45th St S. Fargo ND 58103.
