The second meet of the season went about like the first for the Blue Jays, at least team-wise.

Jamestown High School placed seventh for the second time in four days, this time at lengthy Heart River Golf Course in Dickinson, which was playing about 6,730 yards.

Brandon Stahlhut again led the young Blue Jays, who have a week to work on some things before playing Prairie West in Mandan April 27.

“Good tournament and good week to really expose what we need to work on as individuals,” JHS coach Dean Kraft said. “Good time for that with a full week of practice ahead before our next tournament.”

Stahlhut and Brandon Hart were the only rounds in the 80s for JHS, although Brady Hoggarth played the same course and conditions on the JV team and carded an 87.

Hart bounced back from a rough opener Tuesday at the Minot Air Force Base (101), shaving 16 strokes down to 85.

“(Brandon) was determined to redeem himself after Minot. His short game has really improved,” Kraft said.

Eighth-grader Austin Rene and freshman Nick Stockert each ended with 93s, but both had 10s on their card that pushed their numbers higher.

“Their scores were a little deceptive,” Kraft said.

Bismarck Century notched its second straight team title, finishing 11 strokes ahead of host Dickinson.

Tanner Halter used the home-course advantage to claim medalist honors, nipping Century’s Troy Ressler by one stroke, 72-73.
