The LaMoure-Litchville/Marion Loboes split a pair of Class B high school baseball games in Casselton against the Central Cass Squirrels on Thursday, but they got the one that counted.
The Loboes plated a crucial run in the top of the seventh inning, and senior hurler Zach Stemen got the win on the mound, as they defeated the Squirrels 4-3 in the Region 1 matchup.
Stemen went all seven frames, allowing 2 earned runs on six hits and 2 walks, while picking up 9 strikeouts. Jared Meiklejohn and Devin Piehl each batted 2-for-4 at the dish. Stemen went 1-for-2 with 2 RBIs.
Ben Sundquist went 2-for-3 with a double for the Squirrels, while Ryan Nelson also clubbed a double and drove in 2 runs.
Central Cass bounced back in the 5-inning nightcap to defeat the Loboes 4-3. Mitch Scheer was credited with the victory.
Kenney Hodem went 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Loboes, while Scheer and Ellery Bresnahan each had a two-hit game for Central Cass.
The Loboes improved to 2-2 in Region 1 play and are 4-6 overall.

Dakota Prairie 8, Midkota 4
Dakota Prairie’s Dylan Gillett drilled a 2-run homer in the fifth inning, and Evan Kroke added 3 totals hits, helping the Knights get past the Mustangs on the road in Region 3 action on Friday.
Gillett also picked up the victory on the mound.
Midkota starter Zach Gilbertson gave up just two walks in the loss, as the Mustangs fell to 3-3 overall and 2-2 in the region. The Knights improved to 2-2 overall and 2-2 in Region 3.
