Youth fastpitch league planned

Four divisions are planned for the Jamestown Area Youth Fastpitch Softball League this summer.

The league, which begins May 19 and runs through July 27, features U10 (Outlaws), 12U (Pistols), 14U (Gunslingers), and 16U (Bandits).

The League is opening to girls in grades 3-9. Cost is $50 for U10 and $100 for the other three. Deadline to register is April 29.

Also, registration and fee can be brought to McElroy Park from 11:30 a.m.-3 p.m. on Sunday at Diamond 8. Hot dogs and drinks will be served.

10U and 12U will use a pitching machine. Fundamentals and proper fastpitch techniques will be taught.

Practices are 60 minutes long at McElroy Park. Schedules will be announced following registration.

Teams are coached by qualified adult volunteers and parents with a coordinator for each league. A set curriculum on throwing, fielding, hitting and base running is planned.
