BISMARCK (AP) — The Bismarck City Commission has named Fred Wooten as the city’s interim police chief.
Wooten, a 28-year veteran of the police department, has served as the deputy police chief since 2007.
Bismarck city commissioners decided not to hire any of the three finalists for the job last week, saying no one was qualified for the position. The finalists were a Bismarck police lieutenant, an Ohio police chief and a California police captain. Commissioners plan to re-advertise the position.
