Damaged by Minot flood, elevator closing

North Dakota’s Public Service Commission on Wednesday granted Dakota Midland Grain’s request to close its Minot elevator. The facility was licensed to hold up to 300,000 bushels of grain.

BISMARCK (AP) — North Dakota’s Public Service Commission on Wednesday granted Dakota Midland Grain’s request to close its Minot elevator. The facility was licensed to hold up to 300,000 bushels of grain.

Public Service Commission Chairman Tony Clark said the company’s board of directors decided it would be too expensive to repair the elevator’s flood damage. He said there hasn’t been any grain stored there for some time.

Dakota Midland also has elevators in Surrey, Norwich and Voltaire. The company is asking state regulators for permission to expand its Surrey location to store up to 300,000 bushels of grain on the ground.
