Panel endorses Clark for FERC
A U.S. Senate panel has endorsed North Dakota utility regulator Tony Clark for a spot on the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
BISMARCK (AP) — A U.S. Senate panel has endorsed North Dakota utility regulator Tony Clark for a spot on the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
Now Clark’s appointment goes to the full Senate for a confirmation vote.
The federal commission oversees natural gas pipelines and the nation’s electric transmission network.
Clark is chairman of the North Dakota Public Service Commission. It regulates electric and gas utilities, coal mining, telecommunications and other industries.
Clark is leaving the state commission this year. He’s been a North Dakota utility regulator since 2000.
North Dakota U.S. Sen. John Hoeven said Thursday that the Senate’s Energy and Natural Resources Committee had endorsed Clark for the federal job. Hoeven is a member of the Senate committee.
Clark is a former North Dakota legislator and state labor commissioner.
