Century takes pair from Blue Jays

The Blue Jay baseball team’s doubleheader against Bismarck St. Mary’s was on the long list of games either postponed or wiped out all together on Friday. The Blue Jays and Saints will now play on Monday at 4:30 p.m. at Jack Brown Stadium.

Jamestown High School will be looking to get back on track after being swept by Bismarck Century on Thursday in the Capital City.

In the opener, which counts in the region standings, Alex Bray and Tyler Mongeon combined on a 2-hit shutout in a 5-0 Century win. Bray went the first five innings with five strikeouts.

Brady Anderson had the only 2 JHS hits, one a double.

Riley Schafer went the route on the mound, allowing single runs in the first and second and three in the fifth.

Bray also went 2-for-3 at the plate, scoring twice and doubling.

In Game 2, the Patriots scored twice in the bottom of the fifth to rally for an 8-7 win.

The Blue Jays led 5-1 after a 4-run top of the second, but the Patriots got five in the bottom half of the frame.

Jamestown (2-2 West, 8-4 overall) went back on top with 2 in the third and it stayed 7-6 until the Patriots won it in the fifth.

Six Jays had one hit. Danny Fischer scored twice and Schafer doubled. Pat Lane was 1-for-1 with an RBI and run scored.

Tyler Ukestad went all the way on the hill, but was saddled with the loss.
