North Dakota man arrested on theft charges in three states
A Cass County man is facing several felony charges after he was arrested for a string of thefts in North Dakota, South Dakota and Minnesota.
FARGO (AP) — A Cass County man is facing several felony charges after he was arrested for a string of thefts in North Dakota, South Dakota and Minnesota.
Forty-eight-year-old Paul Baumler of Leonard, N.D. is being held in the Cass County Jail.
Authorities said Baumler was buying various items like vehicles and a horse trailer with bad checks and then selling the items on Craigslist and other websites to turn a profit.
In one instance, West Fargo Police Detective Derek Cruff told KFGO that Baumler opened a bank account in West Fargo with a $100 deposit. He then proceeded to allegedly write more than $82,000 in checks with the account.
Baumler is also facing charges in counties in Minnesota and South Dakota.
