APUC to consider funding requests
The North Dakota Agricultural Products Utilization Commission will review funding requests for seven projects totaling $407,311 at its quarterly meeting set for May 17 at the Lake Region State College in Devils Lake. APUC is a program of the North Dakota Department of Commerce which administers grant programs for researching and developing new and expanded uses for North Dakota agricultural products. The grants can be used for basic and applied research, marketing and utilization, farm diversification, nature based agri-tourism, prototype and technology, and technical assistance.

Two local requests will be reviewed:
Endless Harvest, Jamestown, is requesting $68,000 to defray the cost of hiring a consulting firm which will explore funding sources, provide representable lettuce types, educational tours, and finalizing specific design components of a proposed facility. Lettuce grown will be used for developing market presentation and consumer preferences.
Bessy’s Best, Sterling, is requesting $83,282 to assist in defraying the cost for newspaper, radio and billboard advertising as well as a permanent sign near the business location.
