One person is suspected in the theft of an estimated $1,000 worth of lawn ornaments Thursday and Friday, according to the Jamestown Police Department.
The thefts happened between 11 p.m. and 2 a.m. at 10 different addresses in the northwest part of the city in an approximate six-block area.
The department has recovered the stolen items in a variety of places, including garbage receptacles and the James River.
“A lot of it was taken and thrown out, basically,” said Gary Peterson, Jamestown Police Department captain.
Police have a suspect, said Sgt. Tom Nagel of the police department.
Police believe the thief is stealing for the thrill of committing a crime.
Items were reported stolen along the Seventh Street Northwest Loop and the 500 and 600 blocks of Third and Fourth Avenue Northwest. People in those areas are asked to come down to the department to see if their lawn items have been recovered.
