Paul Subart was selected because of his involvement in the U.S. Army Reserve, as a server at his church and his work on the family farm. Subart intends to pursue a career in agriculture, with plans of attending North Dakota State University and studying crop and weed science.
Subart, the son of Margaret and Robert, is a senior at Kidder County Public High School.
More than 40 students from the Northern Plains service area applied. They were judged based on academic achievements, community service, extracurricular activities and an essay answering: How would you describe the value of your local electric cooperative?
The scholarship program, sponsored by Basin Electric Cooperative, choses one high school senior each year.
