No sign of drinking before ND senator's death

FARGO, N.D. (AP) — A police report says former North Dakota Republican Senate majority leader Bob Stenehjem (STEN'-jum) didn't have alcohol or illegal drugs in his system when he was killed in an SUV rollover.

Stenehjem was in Alaska on a family fishing trip when he died last July. The 59-year-old Stenehjem was driving north of Homer, Alaska, when his SUV went off the road and overturned.

Stenehjem wasn't wearing a seat belt, and he was thrown from the vehicle. Stenehjem's son suffered a broken right wrist, and his grandson was treated at a hospital and released.

The group had been out fishing late the night before. KFGO Radio of Fargo (http://bit.ly/KaAJhk) obtained an Alaska state police report on the crash. It quotes a witness as saying the SUV was weaving before the accident.
