A ninth-inning rally fell short for the Jimmies on Friday as they fell to Mayville State 6-5 in loser-out play at the A.I.I. Tournament in San Marcos, Calif.
The Jimmies loaded the bases in the bottom of the ninth with one out, but Victor Sokolofsky wiggled off the hook as the Comets stayed alive.
Nico Moreno was 2-for-4 with 4 RBIs for the Jimmies, who ended the season with a record of 32-16-1. Spencer Flaten also had two hits and scored twice.
Nick Smart, the third of three JC pitchers, was saddled with the loss.
