BISMARCK (AP) — The Burleigh County chapter of Thrivent Financial is organizing a “family fun” event to raise money to help rebuild homes in Bismarck and Minot damaged by flooding last year.
The North Dakota Flood Recovery Event is May 12 outside the Bismarck Civic Center. Chapter President Dawn Moore told The Bismarck Tribune that Thrivent and other sponsors will cover the expenses so that all free-will donations will go to victims of 2011 Missouri River flooding in the Bismarck area and Souris River flooding in the Minot area.
Activities at the Flood Recovery Event will range from a car show to face-painting. Donations will be handled by Lutheran Disaster Relief.
