Jordan Thoreson qualified for the state meet in the shot put on Friday at the Packer Relays in West Fargo.

Thoreson’s mark of 48 feet, 9 inches earned him second-place overall in the shot.

Jamestown High School sent only a handful of throwers to the meet, according to boys coach Ken Gardner.

Beka Hilgemann had the lone place for JHS girls’ throwing contingent. The freshman had a heave of 97-10 in the javelin to place sixth in the event.

The meet featured 12 boys’ teams and 15 on the girls’ side.
