Police searching trunks for missing mom, daughters

GUNTOWN, Miss. (AP) — Authorities searching for a Tennessee mother and her three daughters are stopping motorists in northern Mississippi and checking inside the trunks of their vehicles.

Mississippi state troopers near Guntown said Monday they are conducting a manhunt.

They are looking for 35-year-old Adam Mayes, who authorities say is likely to be armed and extremely dangerous. He's being sought in the April 27 disappearance of Jo Ann Bain and her daughters: 14-year-old Adrienne, 12-year-old Alexandria and 8-year-old Kyliyah.

Police also have set up roadblocks near a residence outside Guntown where two bodies were found last week. Authorities say the house is connected to Mayes, who was a friend of the Bain family.

The FBI is awaiting a medical examiner's report to identify the victims.
