Mandan earned a sweep of the Blue Jays Tuesday in a match-up of the No. 2 and 3 teams in the West Region standings.
The Braves broke a 3-all tie with a single run in the bottom of the sixth and then held on for a 4-3 win in the opening game at Mandan Municipal Ballpark.
The Braves entered the contest 6-3 in region games, while the Blue Jays fell to 5-4 in league affairs. Jamestown won when the two teams played here in April.
The Blue Jays (5-4 West Region, 14-8 overall) had a rare off night defensively, committing four errors in the game.
Riley Schafer was effective on the mound. The senior right-hander allowed just six hits and struck out eight. Three of the four runs were earned.
Danny Fischer carried the load offensively, going 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored.
Both teams had six hits in the game, but the Blue Jays also drew eight walks, but stranded seven runners in all. Landon Weiser and Cody Benson each walked twice.
Dwight Mack fired a 2-hitter in the nightcap as the Braves completed the sweep, 5-0.
Mack held JHS to just two hits — singles by Tyler Ukestad and Nick Fuchs.
Ukestad went the first three innings on the mound and was saddled with the loss.
The Blue Jays are back in action on Thursday when they host Dickinson at 4:30 p.m.
