Taz wrestlers compete at state

Jamestown Taz Wrestlers accumulated five first-place finishes at the State Greco Roman Wrestling Tournament in Grand Forks April 27 and six more champions at the State Freestyle Tournament April 28 in Grand Forks. The Taz team sent 17 wrestlers to the State Greco meet and 16 to State Freestyle.

The Taz team sent 17 wrestlers to the State Greco meet and 16 to State Freestyle.

Aden Braun, Brandyn Harr, Paxton Mewes, Ethan Gumke and Dylan Schnabel each won state titles in both meets.

Brant Fields placed first in freestyle and second in Greco.

At state Greco, Ethan Bowman, Zane Braun and Reece Waldie each earned runner-up honors. Colton Mewes and Noah Braun came in third.

Fourth-place finishers in Greco were Louis Kjellberg-Jones, Diontrea Anderson, Kane Barnick and Jared Harr. Chris Erickson was fifth.

Waldie added a second in freestyle to go with the Greco runner-up.

Bowman, Braun and Colton Mewes placed third in freestyle.

Other placers in freestyle were Kjellberg-Jones (4th), Anderson (4th), Barnick (4th), Harr (5th) and Erickson (6th).

To place, wrestlers had to finish in the top 6.
