BISMARCK (AP) — A federal judge in North Dakota has sentenced a Texas man to more than 10 years in prison for attempting to transport a minor for criminal sexual activity.

U.S. Attorney Timothy Purdon said 47-year-old Rodney Goodwin of Dallas was sentenced Wednesday to 10 years and one month in custody, to be followed by five years of supervised release.

A jury convicted Goodwin in February of contacting an underage girl via social media and the telephone and convincing her to run away.
