Tyler Parker, Calla Price and Marvin Schmitt of Hazen are first-place winners in the video category, and Kylen Mayer of Bismarck is the first-place recipient for the billboard design category.

NDDOT, along with AAA North Dakota and the North Dakota Safety Council, sponsor the 2012 ND Teen Drivers Traffic Safety Contest. This year marked the third year of the contest, with more than 85 entries for both the video and billboard campaigns submitted by students across the state.

The winning video, created by Parker, Price and Schmitt, seniors at Hazen High School, is a testimonial of a distracted driver. This will be featured in Carmike movie theaters across the state and air on television for one week to help spread awareness about safe driving habits among teen drivers.

Mayer, a sophomore at Bismarck Career Academy, designed the first place billboard with a safety message about teen car crashes. The billboard ad will be placed across the state.

Each winning entry will receive a $750 cash prize.

Other cash winners included third place billboard, Katherine Koll of Wimbledon.
