VC woman drowns trying to save her dog

Authorities say a Valley City woman drowned while trying to rescue her dog from the Sheyenne River.

VALLEY CITY, N.D. (AP) — Authorities say a Valley City woman drowned while trying to rescue her dog from the Sheyenne River.

KOVC radio reported that the woman’s body was recovered Friday morning. She was not immediately identified.

Fire Chief Gary Retterath said the dog drowned after going back into the water after emergency crews recovered the woman’s body.
