The Blue Jays got half of what they wanted Friday.

Jamestown took Game 1 of a doubleheader against Turtle Mountain, but fell in the nightcap against the bottom team in the West Region.

Walks and errors did in the Blue Jays in Game 2, a 12-11 loss. They started the night by taking the opener, 8-4.

“It wasn’t one of our better nights. Hopefully we can learn from the things we did poorly so we don’t do those things again and it makes us better,” coach Mike Soulis said.

Kadie Anderson allowed only four runs on six hits in the first game as the Blue Jays built an 8-0 lead and never trailed.

Ashlie Meier had two of the Blue Jays’ seven hits.

“We played pretty well defensively, but the thing we didn’t do as well offensively was put pressure on them,” Soulis said. “We had too many innings where we didn’t do much.”

That theme continued in the second game.

They led 6-1 after three innings, but the Braves scored four in the fourth and sixth in the fifth.

The Blue Jays rallied to tie with three in the seventh, but Turtle Mountain got the game-winner in the bottom of the frame.

“We started OK and then tied it in the seventh, but we didn’t do a whole lot in between,” Soulis said. “We struggled hitting today.”

Kari Overby had two of the Blue Jays’ six hits.

Another busy week looms with road trips to Minot Tuesday and Dickinson Friday and a home game against the Majettes on Thursday.
