Collision results in DUI citation

One person was cited for DUI after a May 5 head-on collision that pushed a parked vehicle back nearly 50 feet, according to the Jamestown Police Department.

One person was cited for DUI after a May 5 head-on collision that pushed a parked vehicle back nearly 50 feet, according to the Jamestown Police Department.

The accident happened around 2 a.m. in the 700 block of Second Street Northeast.

Tammy Gumke, 53, 530 18th St. SW, was driving a 2004 Oldsmobile eastbound in the 700 block of Second Street.

She drove into the oncoming lane and struck a driverless, parked 1995 Chevrolet, the report said. The impact pushed the Chevrolet back 45 feet.

Gumke allegedly fled the scene and was later apprehended by the Stutsman County Sheriff’s Office. She was cited for DUI with other citations to follow, the report said.

There was $3,500 in damage to the Oldsmobile and $2,500 in damage to the Chevrolet.

Gumke was not wearing a seat belt and sustained a minor injury around her mouth. She was not transported to Jamestown Regional Medical Center.
