American Legion to honor members

The American Legion Ernest D. Robertson Post 14 will hold its May meeting on May 22 at the All Vets Club in Jamestown.

The American Legion Ernest D. Robertson Post 14 will hold its May meeting on May 22 at the All Vets Club in Jamestown.

This will be the annual awards and memorial meeting and will feature a free dinner for all paid-up members. The 55-plus-year Legionnaires will be honored with pins and certificates for their years of continuous membership in the American Legion. The meal will be served at 6 p.m. and the meeting will start at 7 p.m.

The late Floyd Brown’s name plate will be added to the Purple Heart plaque. He was wounded in Iwo Jima in 1945 during the World War II.

Legionnaires to be honored are 55 years, Robert Ault and Edmund Steckler; 60 years, Melvin Fode, Glenn Greenstein and Gene Klose; and 65 years, Clarence Henne, Elroy Mogck and the late Donald Wenaas.

A memorial will be held to honor the departed comrades who have died this past year.

Also at the meeting, officers for the 2012-13 Post 14 year will be installed by District 4 Commander Florence Glatt. Incoming officers are Commander Glen Johnson, First Vice Commander Bert Gray, Second Vice Commander George Barnes, Finance Officer Clifford Herrick and Sergeant at Arms Warren Sand.

All paid-up members will be guests of the Post. Spouses and the public are welcome to attend. Post adjutant Ron Frydenlund will be present to accept dues from members wishing to pay that evening.
