Newton, Wolf achieve rank of Eagle Scout

Boy Scout Troop 134, chartered by the Knights of Columbus Hall, has announced that two troop members —– Tyler Newton and Cody Wolf — have achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. This is the highest award in Scouting with only about 2 percent of Scouts reaching this goal.

Newton is the son of Tim and Rhonda Newton. He was born in Bismarck and attended Lincoln Elementary, Jamestown Middle School and Jamestown High School, where he is a freshman. He participates in cross country, basketball, student council, choir and track.

Newton began in Scouting by joining Cub Scout Pack 139 in 2003 and Boy Scout Troop 100 in 2008, transferring to Boy Scout Troop 134 in 2009. He has held many troop positions and has attended many camps.

Newton’s Eagle Scout service project consisted of removing the billboard signs at Camp Grassick and repainting them. Camp Grassick is located in Dawson, N.D., and is funded by the Jamestown Elks Club.

Wolf is the son of Darren and Brenda Wolf. He was born in Oakes, N.D. He attended Louis L’Amour and Gussner elementaries and Jamestown Middle School and is currently attending Medina (N.D.) Public School where he is a freshman. He has participated in football, basketball and kart racing. He enjoys hunting, fishing and working on vehicles.

Wolf joined Cub Scout Pack 138 in 2002, Pack 139 in 2006, Boy Scout Troop 100 in 2008 and transferred to Boy Scout Troop 134 in 2009. He has held multiple troop positions and attended many camps.

Wolf’s Eagle Scout service project was the remodeling of a prop room in the auditorium of Camp Grassick. The campers perform numerous plays during the summer months for fellow campers and staff. He and his fellow Scouts built backdrops, shelving units to store prop supplies, a prop display rack and several wheeled clothing racks.

Family and friends are invited to attend the Eagle Court of Honor and reception at 3 p.m. Sunday at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.
