Class B roundup: Mustangs, Loboes sweep

Dakota Hoyt and Austin Monson each had two RBIs in the victory.
Tanner Kessel had the lone hit and RBI for the Pirates. He also was saddled with the loss.
The Mustangs piled up 12 hits in the nightcap as they finished off the sweep 10-3.
Winning pitcher Zach Gilbertson also banged out three hits, while Kris Wathne and Jamie Eggermont each finished with a pair of hits.
Dylan Bitz and Nick Thomas had two hits each to pace the Pirates.
Midkota plays Finley-Sharon-Hope-Page on Thursday before opening the Region 3 tournament against Sheyenne-New Rockford on Saturday.

LaMoure-Litchville-Marion picked up wins No. 13 and 14 with a sweep of Central Prairie.
The homestanding Loboes got a strong combined effort on the mound by Jared Meiklejohn and Tanner Carlson to win Game 1, 4-1.
Meiklejohn, Carlson, Devin Piehl and Kenny Hodem each had hits for the winners.
Thaddaeus Owen had both of the Firebirds’ hits.
The Loboes ended the second game early, scoring nine runs in the bottom of the second inning en route to a 10-0 win.
Zach Stemen allowed three hits with three strikeouts over three innings.
Piehl was 2-for-2. Stemen doubled and had three RBIs to help his cause. Brady Thielges had a hit and two RBIs for the Loboes. Meiklejohn doubled and scored twice. Tyler Thielges was 1-for-1 with an RBI and run.
Eric Knodel had two hits to lead Central Prairie. Owen and Hunter Larson each singled.

Logan Clifton and Austin Hewitt teamed on a 2-hit shutout as Carrington notched a 3-0 victory over Thompson.
Both pitchers allowed one hit and struck out one for the Cardinals, who scored one in the second and two in the fourth.
Taylor Skytland was 2-for-4 with an RBI for Carrington. Scott Engelhorn had a hit and scored twice. Alex Nelson and Brady Smith also had safeties with Smith scoring.
The Cardinals are the top seed for the Region 3 tournament, which begins Saturday in New Rockford.
