Valley City selects new police chief

Valley City has selected a new police chief. The Valley City Times-Record reported that Fred Thompson is a 29-year veteran of the Henderson Police Department in Nevada.

VALLEY CITY, N.D. (AP) — Valley City has selected a new police chief.

The Valley City Times-Record reported that Fred Thompson is a 29-year veteran of the Henderson Police Department in Nevada.

He’ll begin his new position in June.

Administrator David Schelkoph said the city started with 39 applicants and whittled the list down to 10 phone interviews. Five applicants were brought in for face-to-face interviews.

Thompson holds a bachelor’s degree in public administration-law enforcement from Nevada State College, and an associate’s degree in criminal justice.
