Poppy Day in Jamestown is today and Saturday. American Legion Auxiliary members will ask people to remember American war casualties and also distribute the poppies.

The poppy is a symbol of the sacrifice of lives in war and represents the hope that none has died in vain. It has continued to bloom for the casualties of four wars, its petal of paper bound together by disabled or hospitalized veterans, reminding Americans each year that the men and women who have served and died for their country deserve to be remembered.
