Muhs advances to state tennis meet

Sarah Muhs is going back to state, but she’ll be the only Blue Jay doing so. The Jamestown High School senior went 2-0 at the West Region tournament in Bismarck on Friday, including a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Mandan’s Cayla Cordova in quarterback play.

The Jamestown High School senior went 2-0 at the West Region tournament in Bismarck on Friday, including a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Mandan’s Cayla Cordova in quarterback play.

Muhs started with a 6-1, 6-1 routing of Meryl Kovacs of Dickinson.

Muhs will play for seeding today, starting with semifinal action.

Jenna Reed and Maria LeFevre were eliminated in singles action.

Reed won her first match over Dickinson’s Reanna Peterson 6-2, 6-0, but dropped her next two.

In doubles play, Kara Fix and Erin Mullowney dropped their first match, won their second, but were defeated in a state-qualifier by Mariya Krumm and Erin Benz of Bismarck St. Mary’s, 6-4, 7-6 (4).

Anna Larson and Bailee Graves went 0-2 in doubles.
