Germany, Minnesota runners win Marathon

FARGO (AP) — A runner from Germany has won the men’s division of the Fargo Marathon, while a Minnesota woman cruised to first place in the women’s division.

FARGO (AP) — A runner from Germany has won the men’s division of the Fargo Marathon, while a Minnesota woman cruised to first place in the women’s division.

Oliver Hoffman finished the men’s race in first place in 2 hours, 28 minutes, 15 seconds. Saturday’s race was Hoffman’s first in the United States.

Lisa Dyer, of Moorhead, won the women’s race with a time of 2 hours, 45 minutes, 15 seconds.

The Fargo Marathon is in its eighth year. The weekend includes everything from the 26.2-mile marathon to a youth run

About 24,000 people took part in events during the Fargo Marathon weekend.

The marathon itself on Saturday included 35 soldiers currently stationed in southwest Asia. Most are with the North Dakota Air National Guard’s 119th Civil Engineer Squadron.
