Jamestown runners compete in marathon

Over 100 runners from Jamestown competed in the three different races as part of the Fargo Marathon last weekend. Eight Jamestown runners competed in the full 26.2- mile marathon on Saturday. Andrew Gideon had the top time, finishing in 3 hours and 22 seconds.

Over 100 runners from Jamestown competed in the three different races as part of the Fargo Marathon last weekend.

Eight Jamestown runners competed in the full 26.2- mile marathon on Saturday. Andrew Gideon had the top time, finishing in 3 hours and 22 seconds.

Gideon, the sports information director and assistant track and field and cross country coach at Jamestown College, placed 158th out of 1,825 runners.

William Swanson finished in just under four hours. Katie Schauer, Caitlyn Arnold, Kyle Entzel, Eric Hasselbrock, Veronica Lien and Rick Diede also completed the full marathon.

Sixty-three runners with Jamestown ties compete in the 13.1 half marathon. Jacob Nieland had the leading time of 1:29.25.

Thirty more runners competed in the 10-kilometer race with Anne Coyle’s 52:27 the top mark.
