Mishaps not likely to blemish Marathon
The director of the Fargo Marathon says changes are likely next year to address problems that surfaced during this year’s event. FARGO (AP) — The director of the Fargo Marathon says changes are likely next year to address problems that surfaced during this year’s event.
The pace car in the 10K race took a wrong turn, steering the leader off course; 5K runners complained about a lack of water; and 10K runners got in the way of half-marathon leader Andrew Carlson, allowing another man to sneak by for the win.
Marathon Director Mark Knutson says that the biggest change that is likely for next year is an adjustment to the 10K route.
Marathon expert G.P. Pearlberg said that the mishaps won’t damage the Fargo Marathon.
He says he was impressed with how smoothly marathon officials handled nearly 14,000 finishers at the Fargodome on Saturday.
