FARGO, N.D. (AP) — A Fargo surgeon accused of drugging and sexually assaulting his wife will stand trial after failing to convince a judge to throw out the case against him.
Jon Norberg is accused of having sex with Alonna Norberg after giving her propofol, a medication that gained notoriety during the trial against the doctor who treated pop star Michael Jackson. Jon Norberg backed out of a plea deal with prosecutors earlier this spring because he felt it might affect his pending divorce case.
Judge Douglas Herman on Thursday ruled that prosecutors have enough evidence to move the case forward to trial. It's scheduled to begin Aug. 28.
The Associated Press typically does not identify victims of sex crimes but Alonna Norberg has spoken publicly about the case.
