Park campground reopening June 1

MANDAN, N.D. (AP) — The campground at Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park south of Mandan is opening on June 1, more than a year after it was closed due to Missouri River flooding.
North Dakota Parks Director Mark Zimmerman said the reopening of the campground is noteworthy because it will complete the return of the Parks and Recreation Department to its pre-flood state. He said just about every state park was affected by flooding last year, and it’s been a long road restoring them.
Parts of Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park were covered by as much as 7 feet of river water last summer. Trees, cabins and electrical utilities were damaged, and as much as a foot of silt was left behind when the water receded.
