Klundt, Wheeler earn top award at tourney

Joe Klundt and Josh Wheeler were the champion fishermen of the 36th Annual Dakota Anglers Walleye/Northern Tournament May 19-20 at Jamestown Reservoir.

Klundt and Wheeler combined to net 372.16 points in the catch-and-release tournament. The top score earned them a winning check worth $1,700.

Runners-up Ken Cumber and Corey Heiser also had over 300 points (317.82) and easily finished second to net $1,200. Cumber and Heiser also caught the biggest fish of the tournament — a 22.89-poud northern on Saturday.

The third-place team of Casey Dodgson and Rod Lux scored $925 for their 284.52 total.

Seventy-six teams competed in the tournament with the top 20 placers earning $150 or more.

The 2-day total of walleye caught was 284 for 430.98 pounds, while 209 northerns were boated weighing 939.19 pounds.

Seth Roscoe and Samantha Zuck were the top-placing couple, catching 104.55 points worth of fish. They earned $100 for their efforts.
