Kayla Roemmich finished four places higher than her seed in her trip to nationals.
The Jamestown College junior finished 18th in the discus with a throw of 130 feet at the NAIA national championships in Marion, Ind.
Roemmich entered seeded 22nd. She did not have one of her better throws, but still finished ahead of four other participants on Saturday.
She was the fourth and final JC athlete to compete in national. Beth Segerholm (javelin), Rob Nelson and Trent Roemmich (110, 400 hurdles) competed earlier. Trent Roemmich advanced to the semifinals of 400 hurdles.
