Letter to the editor: Religion freedoms are under attack in this country

Remember when things were normal and accepted not even 20 years ago are now not “politically correct.” We can’t say “Merry Christmas” at Christmas time, we have to say “Happy holidays.”

Remember when things were normal and accepted not even 20 years ago are now not “politically correct.” We can’t say “Merry Christmas” at Christmas time, we have to say “Happy holidays.” We don’t teach children in school anything that might mention Christianity (although the other religions are all generally mentioned). Everything is being done to isolate Christianity and take all traces of it away from the public sphere.

August 2011 – Crosses removed from Inspirational Point, San Diego, Calif.

October 2011 – Muslims want crosses removed at Catholic University. They say it violated their human rights.

November 2011 – Atheist and Freethinkers demand cross removed at Camp Pendleton, Calif.

November 2011 – Crosses removed from A&M University tower, San Antonio, Texas.

January 2012 – Utah highway crosses removed by court order.

There was a battle over prayers at veterans’ funerals in Houston National Cemetery; a California couple are fined for holding a Bible study in their home, and officials say they need a permit for regular gatherings of more than three people.

Four Christians in Philadelphia face a potential sentence of 47 years in prison for preaching in public, and three Christians arrested in outreach to Muslims in Dearborn, Mich.

Don’t kid yourselves, our religious freedoms are under attack and it starts with our rights to even be born.
