N.D.-based bank changing name

Fargo-based State Bank and Trust is changing its name to Bell State Bank.

FARGO (AP) — Fargo-based State Bank and Trust is changing its name to Bell State Bank.

Bank President Michael Solberg told KVLY-TV that the bank’s current name has led to confusion because more than 150 banks in the Dakotas and Minnesota have the word “state” in their names.

Solberg said the new name comes from Bell Mortgage, a Twin Cities mortgage company that State Bank and Trust bought last year. He said the Bell State Bank name will work well because there are no other Bell Banks in the nation.
